Comic Life - comiclife.com

this is one resource I am using on my lesson plan template because I know I have several students who will really enjoy creating their own comic.

I think this tool will allow students to be more creative and show what they have learned in a fun manner.

Another tool I am utilizing in my plan is Cube Maker (http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/cube-30057.html) - this is a form of graphic organizer that I believe student will enjoy because it will help them be more organized with their project and be a fun way to show what they have learned.

In my lesson plan, I am using Kerpoof and Voki. Kerpoof allows students to create a picture or movie using diffent backgrounds, objects, etc. Voki gives students the capability of creating an animated person for their voice. It's a very creative way to deliver their message. If I had a classroom, I would set these two programs up as stations giving students the opportunity to use them prior to this lesson and for future projects.

For my lesson plan I will be using apple iPad apps, Edmodo, and Prezi. The students are already familiar with iPad apps as well as Edmodo but this lesson will allow them to utilize those tools in a new way. We have only used Edmodo to communicate as a class or for receiving and turning in assignments. With the new lesson, students will be required to collaborate in a small group and to post their own links and pages.
The iPad application will be used to further their understanding of the structure of DNA. It is an interactive way for the students to move and study a strand of DNA. They have already read about it in the textbook but hopefully the interactive experience will enhance their understanding.
My students are very familiar with PowerPoint but they will all be learning how to create a Prezi for the first time. I am going to allow them to choose the presentation program that they are most comfortable using but Prezi is a great online option that I think a lot of them will learn quickly.
My hope for this project is that students will build important skills, including teamwork in an online environment. Many college courses and jobs now require online collaboration and communication. Students will need to be able to share their ideas and interact with their peers entirely online. The project will also require them to take small steps working towards a larger goal. This will be different from many other lessons that they have done in my classroom. Hopefully the technology will make each step more engaging and they will find success.

In my lesson I plan to use Edmodo, skype, and blogs to incorporate Web 2.0 tools in the classroom. I don't actually have a classroom, but if I did I think these tools would encourage student engagement and make boring tasks come to life. Although, my level of comfort with these tools is probably not as high as the students we serve.

Okay, You all have made me feel like the old man that is lost. I spent the largest part of last Sunday reading about Web 2.0 so that I actually have an understanding of this side of technology. Now that I somewhat have a grasp on that , I have spent the biggest part of today learning that there are way to many ways to use it. With the use of my imagination, I have decided to use a wiki to allow my students to share information and ideas on available careers in the building and trades industry, after doing individual searching for all the careers in the field. Then as a group use the information in a podcast to present the pros and cons with underclassmen to recruit students that may be interested in signing up for the class and going into a career in the industry.
Since I am almost completely lost in both the workings of a wiki and a podcast, this may be very unrealistic in the real world of teaching. So its hi ho, hi ho off to more reading I go. On another note, I played around with the graph maker and let my imagination linger on some ideas there. Did a small visit to Edmodo after reading Stacey blog. I think I may have to dig deeper into it as well.

I'm going to be using Google sites and Google blog. I have already started having students create Google accounts in order to access these tools. In order to this, I've allowed students to have their cell phones out in class (something I NEVER do) to create or send me a Gmail from their accounts. I've even had students ask me to show them how to use Gmail on their phones because they had never used their accounts other than creating them to activate their phones. So it is turning out to be a teachable technology moment.

I can see several ways students can benefit from Web 2.0 tools while recording data and analyzing CO2 car test results. Students will use Google Forms to enter variables such as vehicle mass, vehicle drag, vehicle free-roll, lubricants used, and testing times into a Google Spreadsheet. Students will then use Google Spreadsheets or Create-A-Graph to graph performance of different test runs. Finally, Students will collaboratively write an analysis based on test findings. Students will be able to work with their partner from home on writing this analysis on the web and can take advantage of “comments” on each others contributions to the analysis. As far as accommodations go we shouldn't need to change much.We can use an Android tablet for inputting all data to Google Forms and will only need web access for the graphs and analysis.

After reading about Edmodo in several comments, I went to check it out. I really like how its set up, a lot like Facebook, and I think my students would like the site as well. This is definitely something that I need to explore and use in the near future.

My lesson plan will include the use of Edmodo, Skype in the Classroom, and either Wikispaces or Google Sites (I’m still trying to decide which). I am a librarian, so my unit is one that I hope to co-teach with a language arts teacher. Each year, she combines research, persuasive writing, and public speaking by having her students debate current controversial issues. I’d like to use the above tools to encourage more collaboration not only among the students in the class but also with students in other areas of the United States.

I’d like to use Edmodo to help students discuss the pros and cons of their current controversial issues. Skype in the Classroom will allow me to find a teacher/classroom in another area of the United States with which our students can debate the issues. (The other students can also join our Edmodo group). Students will create an annotated bibliography/resource page online for their issues using either Wikispaces or Google Sites. I want to use a site that will allow students to work on the page privately before making it public. I know Google Sites will allow this, but I’d rather use Wikispaces because I can give students access without them having to create accounts if I use the K-12 version. I just need to make sure that I can change the private settings to public once the wiki is set up. Eventually, I will share their resource sites on my library web page.

The classroom teacher and I will have to make some changes to accommodate these tools, but the changes are not too difficult. First, we will need to allow for more time to complete this unit than in past year. Second, planning will need to be completed much more in advance than in past years to ensure the availability of the computer lab. Third, we will need to develop a letter/permission form to send home to parents before letting students participate in certain online components of the unit. Accommodations will be made for those students who do not have permission.

I am certain that collaborating with students in another area of the United States will encourage our students to produce quality work and to devote more attention to this project.

I plan on using a blog and Voki in my lesson plan. My students can blog with their family members, which they will need to do to ask questions for a digital portfolio about their lives. They can also pair up Voki with their photos to animate them. I am excited that I may even get to incorporate these things this year if I can get my students/parents on board with using these tools!

In my lesson plan am requiring students to post to the Class Blog their findings from a career research project. Students will initially complete an interactive personality poll that will make career recommendations based on their responses (they can accept or reject the ideas). Students will then gather information on their chosen career using the Internet (websites will be recommended to help in their search). Students will also have to record themselves on why they were personally interested in the career, using their cellphones or a computer (Audacity or similar recording application) and upload the audio (.wav) file to the class blog. Finally, the students would be required to read/listen to their classmates' career posts and respond thoughtfully (following the rules of Netiquette)to a couple of their peers. I think this would be an interesting way to present different career options to students and get them comfortable using Web 2.0 tools.

I keep losing my posts. If you keep reading seeing the same post, please ignore. On my computer unless you preview before you post, it gets lost.

My students really like voki. I guess the little cat, etc. gets their attention. I also think they are adorable. I mentioned before that an English teacher gave me the idea of using google earth when teaching setting. I could have really used it in a story I did recently, ANTEUS (1940's teen moves to New York from Alabama). The lesson would have been better with google earth because the setting was critical to understanding the story.

Recently I learned about museum box and a coworker said it was just borg powerpoint. I see it as more than that. I like the cubes and see them as independent parts of the assignment.

This spring my students will complete a personal narrative using techsteps. I think the visual creativity enables them greater understanding and interest in the project. I am trying to purchase a flip camera so that we can put their images in the projects. A co-worker does it with audio voice over. I'm going to take things one step at a time.

Students will use Comic Life to create a page listing elements of a story (author, plot, setting, etc.)
This site allows you to create a comic. You can choose from an array of backgrounds and add differents types and fonts of texts. This will be a creative way to portray the elments of a story and give students a chance to become more acquainted with technology.

I plan to use googlesites (wiki)and think.com. I also plan to try slideshare. Audacity and photostory are two other tools that I have included in my lesson plan. My curiosity has been piqued about some of the sites mentioned throughout this course and plan to look into using some of these as well. Namely: Edmodo, garageband, museumbox, prezi, glogster (to name a few:)

Oh, I am really interested in hearing about Comic Life and having students create a comic! What a fun way for students to learn and let out their creative juices - too bad some of these cool things weren't around when I was creating doodles in my notebook back in the day. :O)

My school is lagging behind in technology, but we are working on it. I tried to look at the Web Tools available and in line with the technology we have at our facility.
I chose Voicethread and/or Animoto to replace what the use of PowerPoint for a student created presenatation. I think the students would be much more excited to use one of these tools instead of PowerPoint.

I need am very interested in all I have read about Edmondo. I really need to check that one out. Do you think it would be good for students to keep in contact with me while I am out on medical LOA? I tried the blog, but I am afraid it is too difficult for my 4th graders to do on their own. I honestly miss hearing about the important things in their lives and what they are learning in my absence. I never intended on having to be off for a full year due to a surgical mess up I REALLY miss my classroom, school, students and fellow staff members & would love to creat a fun way for my students to communicate with me :(

Although I have not done much with edmodo since I created my account over the summer I think there is a lot of use for it in any classroom.

I am going to tryout Wikispaces with my students. We just finished up a novel unit on The Hunger Games. As an extension to the novel, they had to individually complete two project challenges (there were 12 total for them to choose from). Although their final products were very creative and well done, they only required the students to use pencil/paper. I would like to enhance this project for future use by creating a Wiki for my classes. I would turn it into a collaborative project and have the students create their own page to display/present their projects. This would provide digital documentation of their efforts and allow it to be shared/viewed/discussed among all of my classes.

This would greatly changed the way the students respond to the project because they would be taking personal responsibility and ownership of their work in a more permanent way. This would affect my instruction because I would devote more time to introducing my students to a variety of new technology tools for them to utilize for not only this project, but future projects as well.

I am planning on using a few Web 2.0 tools in my lesson plan. I will be using a classroom blog for my students to comment on the progress of the project and to help one another edit their drafts. I am also going to have my students use wiki to share their assignments with one another. They can give advice or help edit one anothers project. I also will let the students use Kerpoof to create a presentation that goes along with their project, giving it their own personal touches. I will have to make a few changes in my classroom to accommodate these tools. I will have to give my students more time on our classroom computers to blog and create their wiki pages. I will also have to plan time to introduce the different tools we will be using to complete the lesson.

I really wanted to jump into something I haven't tried, and I have heard so much about Wikis. So I decided to start an account with Wikispaces. It seemed to be the most user friendly of all the start-up sites. Honestly, at this point, I'm really terrified about how to navigate through this stuff. After creating the account, I've just been jumping around, learning how to operate everything. I do have plenty of things for my class to incorporate into the wiki. Just the other day, I posed the question, "Where do you see yourself in the next five to ten years?" We had a long discussion about it, so I think I might use this as an introductory writing assignment to apply to the wiki. We have an Apple mobile lab at our school, so the students will be able to learn cooperatively. With fingers crossed, we'll see what happens. I'm sure it will be a big hit though.

I am excited about connecting with another classroom to use Skype with my students. I think it would be a great way to step inside of another art room and let my students see what others are creating. To be able to do this successfully, I would try to set up a Skype station in the back of the room. I would make sure that the computer was set up so that it could capture most of the classroom, at least the parts where students were actively working on projects.

I will be using the Web 2.0 tool Introducing Integers ahttp://mathstar.lacoe.edu/newmedia/integers/intro/media/media.htmlt
This will be a great tool to introduce our integer chapter. It will be a great way for my students to explore the concept of integers and to practice problems with integers. It provides instant feedback so the students can stay on track. It also provides worksheets that will assess the students' progress after sufficient practice. I'm excited to use this with my students.

I will be using Amimoto as my web tool. My lesson is focusing on 'theme' within a novel that the students will be reading in their literature circles. This will encourage my students to find music and pics. that relate to the theme(s) that they found within the novel.
Admittedly, I have gone back and forth on which tool or tools to use. It seems there are so many good ones out there!

I will be using the podcast. The students will be creating the podcast using the school mac laptop. Then I will transfer them over to a thumb drive and place them on their mobile macs so that they can work on it themselves and tweak as needed.

A couple of the Web 2.0 tools I am using are Wikis and Picasa from Google. Students in my class will be doing a unit on animals and their environments. Since this will be a week long unit, students will use several tools in order to further their knowledge. They will use Wikis so the classroom can add to information they have found throughout the course of the week. Each student should at least add one comment on something they have learned about the animals and environments. Students will also use Picasa in order to import pictures from the internet and use them to create their own "movie". They will be responsible for uploading images on the rainforest and for adding media and captions to their project. This will serve as their final project for the unit. We will also be using Skype so that we can connect with other students around the country/world to find out their environments and animals that live there. The week before we actually begin the unit, we will have to review how to use these tools within the classroom. We have a set of mobile computers in our classroom, so it will be easy for students to get a computer and begin there search!

I will incorporate Google Earth, Google Maps, Skype, and possibly other Web 2.0 tools that give the option to embed the media into Google placemarks or Google Sites. The changes I would make in class would be that I would have to be comfortable with students working on several different sites with different types of media at the same time. Everyone will be ultimately completing the same task but there will be a multitude of different ways to accomplish it depending on the students' preferences and interest. I will also have to figure out an effective way to use a rubric to evaluate a multitude of projects that used different tools.

I have logged into so many websites and created accounts in several applications....I think I am a bit fried. LOL! There are so many exciting things to learn - some for my use, some for use with my students, and some for my own children to explore. My children already use SKYPE to communicate with their friends in Kentucky where they used to live. They really enjoy it. It would be wonderful to SKYPE other classrooms and collaborate together on lessons or projects. I plan to use some new websites I found such as www.evernote.com and our instructor pointed me to a career and college planning website www.cfwv.com that I want to explore further regarding digital portfolios.

My classroom guidance lesson plan will include the use of Skype and Yack Pack in the area of career development. After completing interest inventories, students can use these tools to interview and question mentors and those who work in the field of their choice. They will also utilize ePortfolio to begin developing their online portfolios.

I will use Edmodo, Google and Prezi in my lesson. I think all of these are easy to get started in and learn which cuts down on the frustration of learning something new, which allows the students to get started with the fun stuff sooner. Students will create an "All About Me" Prezi and share the process with classmates and myself on Edmodo.

Something to share, I found several Podcasts on ItunesU and all are free may be useful in classroom or for use in this class.

I am using two Web 2.0 tools in my lesson. The first is Google Docs. The students will be writing a story as a group. This will completed by utilizing Google Docs. I think this is a good tool because of the immediate feedback they can receive.

The story will be presented to the class as a hole using Voki. This is a fun and creative way to make a presentation.

There are so many tools availible. It is hard to choose.

I am using the smartboard, boardmaker share software, edmodo, and a class blog for my lesson. These are things that are used almost daily in our classroom so there will not be any special accomodations to make the lesson effective.

BTW the blog eats my post everytime and I have to do a second!!!

By creating a Google site for the classroom, it opens up the possibility of using multiple Web 2.0 tools. Not in any particular order other than the Google apps, we will use: Google sites, Google docs, Google forms, Google Picassa, Flickr, Twitter, Vimeo, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Audtion, possibly Comic Life, various websites for influence and commentary, and Lit Trips.

Scheduling computer lab time has been extremely limited lately, so that is really affecting our progress. I will be bringing in an old computer from home to set up a video and podcast station. The most challenging part of the project so far is scheduling, since it's impossible for everyone to be working on the same tasks at once.

I will be using Little Bird Tales,Google docs, Flickrstorm, and Visual Thesaurus for my project. I will have to show students how to use each of these tools before we start on the actual project. As a TIS I will only get to see the students I am having complete the project when they are in the computer lab, which is only twice a week. I might have to find time when they are in specials to briefly pull them out and have them record their story.
I hope once students get used to the layout of Little Bird tales they will be able to do most of it on their own.
